Hey there!!

So we are all pretty aware that there is a housing problem in Ireland at the moment, with the middle income earners being the worst effected. If you are lucky enough to own your own property but feel that you have outgrown it and need to further climb the ladder, then this post may be of interest to you.

Have you ever stopped to look at the space that you have and think that maybe you could make it work for you. Giving you the option to stay put but satisfy your needs also!! We are going to look at 2 amazing spaces today that have pushed the boundaries of catering to ones needs in a compact space.

Compact in Kiev

The first space that we are looking at is an apartment in Kiev that is only 45 sq m or 484 sq feet, so not very big!! This apartment was designed by , who cleverly manipulated the space using glass walls and a simple palette. Yes, this is a one bedroom apartment but it shows you that being clever with your space can allow you to make the most of it.

Micro in Manhattan

The second space that we are looking at is a loft apartment in Manhattan. This apt is 39.5 sq m or 425 sq feet, and was designed by Specht Harpman Architects. The loft is designed over 4 levels making very clever use of the space. Storage is an integral part of this design and it has been positioned to maximise its function without detraction from the overall space.

Although these are very small space, I think that the clever design and layouts of these apartments could most definitely be applied to that of the average 2 or 3 bedroom house in Ireland.
