Hello!

Are you considering an office renovation or move in the New Year? If your answer is “yes,” then you need to keep reading….

Here are 7 things that you need to consider before re-design your existing or new office:

1. Is your company going to increase in size over the next five years?

Considering that most leases are a minimum of 5 years now, you want to make sure that you are making the best use of the space and that you will be able to accommodate a growing work force. After all, you want to make sure you have the space and facilities to give your employees what they want.

2. How do most of your employees get to work?

You need to consider where your office is located and how the majority of your employees get to work. If you have a lot of staff cycling to work then you need to provide them with a bike store. You also need to factor in changing facilities, showers and storage facilites for their gear. Wellbeing and exercise is becoming a huge aspect of our daily lives and employers need to give their employees the facilities to accommodate this.

3. Budget

I cannot tell you how many times we have met a potential client and they do not know what their budget is. Setting a budget from the outset allows you to manage your spend and allows your designer to design a space that you can afford.

4. How your teams work

You need to take into consideration the teams that work inside your company and what their requirements are. Each team will operate slightly differently and may be more productive with access to areas that complement their unique workplace needs. For example your sales or marketing team will benefit from brainstorming areas or communal tables, while your finance team will probably be happy at their desks.

5. Strategic proximity

Some teams will work closely together so you need to consider their proximity to each other in the spatial planning phase of the project. You also need to consider the facilities that they will use on a daily basis and factor this in.

6. Technology

IT is imperative in the office of today and the successful day to day running of your business relies strongly on this. If you are considering a full office renovation, then ensure that you have IT and AV on board from the planning stages.

7. Your brand

We have worked on many office fit out, some of clients have choosen to strongly brand their office interior while others less so. You need to decide early on whether you want your new office space to reflect your brand, brand colours and company ethos.

If this is something that you are considering in the near, then we would be delighted to meet you for a coffee to see if we can help you with your new project.
